Biography
Idris I (1889-1983) was the first and only King of Libya, ruling from 1951 to 1969. Born in Al-Aziziyah, he was the leader of the Senussi order and became king when Libya gained independence. He was overthrown by Muammar Gaddafi in 1969 and died in exile in Egypt.
