Biography
Kianoush Rostami, born on July 23, 1991, in Karaj, Iran, is an Iranian weightlifter and Olympic champion who set multiple world records during his career. Rostami won the gold medal in the 85kg category at the 2016 Rio Olympics, breaking the world record in the total. He also won gold at the 2015 and 2017 World Championships and set world records that stood for years. Rostami's technical precision and mental strength under pressure made him one of the most reliable performers in international weightlifting. His rivalry and camaraderie with teammate Sohrab Moradi pushed both athletes to new heights. After the Olympics, Rostami moved up to the 96kg category and continued to dominate at the Asian and World Championship levels. He is considered one of Iran's all-time great weightlifters and has been a key figure in maintaining Iran's status as a weightlifting powerhouse.
